H.E. Richard Nduhuura meets the Spanish Secretary of State for Tourism Mrs. Matilde Pastora Asian Gonzalez in Madrid Spain
H.E. Richard Nduhuura, Uganda's Ambassador to France also Accredited to Spain, Portugal and Permanent delegate to UNESCO, OECD and BIE, was in Spain to Present copies of Letters of Credence to the Chief of Protocol of Spain at the MOFA & Cooperation in Madrid.

After presentation of copies of credence, he met with the Secretary of State for Tourism of Spain Mrs. Matilde Pastora Asian Gonzalez in the laters office.

Mrs. Matilde Pastora was accompanied by Mr Oscar Almendros Bonis, the State Secretary for Tourism & Mr Antonio Nieto Magro, Deputy Director General for Cooperation and Tourism Competitiveness. The two discussed matters of mutual interest to both countries. Mrs. Matilde Pastora expressed keen interest in visiting Uganda and in particular to see the Mountain Gorillas.

It should be underscored that Tourism is a major foreign exchange earner and a principal export for Spain. Spain has broken international tourism records for the fifth year straight in 2017 and it has overtaken the US as one of the world's most visited countries, despite Islamist militant attacks in Catalonia and political uncertainty over its independence movement. UNWTO figures show visitors arriving in Spain were 82 million tourists, which would make Spain the world's second most visited country after France and push the United States into third place.

The Paris Mission believes that cooperation with Spain ministry of Tourism is key to boosting Uganda's tourism. Uganda should therefore encourage Mrs. Matilde Pastora to visit Uganda and would request that Uganda's Ministry of Tourism, Wild life and Antiquities welcomes the Spanish Minister to visit Uganda. Uganda should consider arranging to have an MOU with Spain in tourism promotion.
