Outreach visit to Institut Sophia Agrobiotech at Université Cote d'Azur
H.E Doreen Ruth Amule led a team from the Embassy to an outreach visit to Institut Sophia Agrobiotech at Université Cote d'Azur. The Institute is a research hub whose main focus is on the functioning and interactions between plants, pests and symbionts. Furthermore, the Institute aims to address the challenges faced in agriculture, increase crop production, reduce pests and lessen use of chemicals and fertilizers by developing innovative strategies with reverence to the environment.
Among other programs, the Institute has a Master of Science program in Biocontrol Solutions for Plant Health (MSc BOOST) which trains students to conduct research programs and R&D of eco-friendly plant protection solutions.
The University has a collaboration with Makerere University and Muni University in Uganda. The Embassy was delighted to meet two Ugandan students Ms. Aceng and Ms. Dinymoi who are beneficiaries of the Msc BOOST program through sponsorship by Total Energies.
